Desa Walando, a village characterized by its cultural diversity and local wisdom, displays significant potential as a peaceful community. Alcohol consumption has been identified as a significant factor influencing various social problems, including domestic violence and substance misuse. The patterns of alcohol use heavily correlate with the social and cultural dynamics within communities. For instance, adolescents are particularly susceptible to alcohol-related risks due to their motives for drinking, which often include social acceptance and peer pressure

Moreover, to build a harmonious environment in Desa Walando, it is imperative to engage community members through education, awareness, and support systems that emphasize the risks associated with alcohol consumption and the importance of safeguarding children from violence and abuse. Desa Walando needs to strengthen oversight of drug circulation, especially through preventive approaches such as raising community awareness, involving traditional and religious leaders, and encouraging young people to participate in positive activities like sports, arts, or productive skills training. Alcohol consumption often triggers various social problems such as domestic violence, fights, and traffic accidents. Its use harms not only individuals but also damages the overall harmony of society. Desa Walando must recognize these dangers and take steps to reduce alcohol consumption, such as regulating sales, providing education, and enhancing social control.
Cases of violence against women and children in Southeast Sulawesi are increasingly concerning. As of Thursday (15 August 2024), the number of cases reached 251, averaging nearly one case every 0.9 days

. Through the implementation of this program, Desa Walando is expected to become a model village that is safe, peaceful, and extraordinary. A community that cares and collaborates in creating an environment free from sexual violence and drug abuse, with control over alcohol consumption, will provide a strong foundation to achieve these goals. This effort is not only for the present but also to ensure a better future for the next generation.
These issues cannot be resolved without the active involvement of all community elements. The village government, traditional and religious leaders, educational institutions, and the public must work in synergy to create a safe and conducive environment. Education, training, and outreach programmers are crucial initial steps to raise awareness about the dangers of violence, sexual abuse, drugs, and alcohol.

Before conducting the activity, the Service Team visited the partner location to communicate and coordinate with the village government of Desa Walando. To ensure smooth implementation, the team also held direct meetings with relevant parties to discuss the steps for carrying out the service and to arrange the schedule as well as obtain permission for the socialization event.
During this preparation phase, the team also developed the sequence of activities for the socialization, including preparing the seminar materials. The initial step involved observation by conducting a field survey to assess the conditions in Desa Walando, Gu district, Central Buton Regency. The team explored the issues faced by the community related to the increasing cases of violence, sexual abuse, and alcohol consumption.
During the observation, the team also directly observed the community’s livelihood, lifestyle habits, and the impacts caused by these negative behaviors, which have affected the safety and comfort of Desa Walando’s residents. Additional preparations included arranging the venue and all necessary equipment required throughout the socialization process. Crucially, coordination with the invited resource persons who would present at the event was also conducted during this stage.
3.2. Implementation Stage
The next stage was the implementation of the activity. The Service Team conducted the socialization by inviting resource persons: a Judge specializing in Children’s cases from Baubau District Court, and a Police Officer from the Narcotics Unit at Gu Police Sector, Central Buton Regency.
The socialization was delivered in the form of a seminar where the resource persons provided materials and facilitated discussions aimed at finding solutions to the issues faced by the Desa Walando community. Additionally, guidance and education were provided on preventive measures against unlawful acts and how to respond to violations occurring within the community, delivered by the Service Team, the Police, and the Judge.
The material presented covered efforts to prevent violence and sexual abuse against children, as well as the importance of understanding the dangers of drugs and alcohol. The socialization participants included youth, village officials, and residents of Desa Walando. Following the presentations, a question-and-answer session was held, during which community members shared their concerns amidst current conditions.
Afterwards, the Service Team continued with a group discussion aimed at deepening the community’s understanding. The goal was that through this discussion, the people of Desa Walando would become more aware of the negative impacts caused by criminal behaviors that harm both themselves and their surrounding environment.

The role of religious leaders in Desa Walando is especially vital in community life. Moreover, through this socialization, it is hoped that criminal acts can be minimized, as such acts carry sanctions that serve as a deterrent to offenders.
3.3. Evaluation Stage

This evaluation also assessed the training, development, and mentoring efforts aimed at raising community awareness about preventing violence, sexual abuse against children, and the misuse of drugs and alcohol. The ultimate goal of this socialization was to create a safe, harmonious, and peaceful Desa Walando by increasing awareness and self-reflection among its residents, particularly the youth as the nation’s future generation.
